The Svět cinema in Hodonín has undergone a complete transformation, encompassing not only the audience area but also modernizing technical facilities, air conditioning, and the café.
Originally built in 1913, the Svět cinema now boasts a modernized pair of cinema halls with updated interior and exterior designs. Notable features include backlit vermiculite panels on the interior walls and glass panels on the exterior façade, adorned with portraits of film celebrities like Brad Pitt and Audrey Hepburn. A newly created small cinema room provides a unique space to watch films or attend expert lectures, complemented by a portrait of the world-renowned Czech director Miloš Forman.
The audience experiences films in a completely revamped auditorium with a monolithic foundation, featuring comfortable cushioned seats and enhanced picture and sound quality through newly installed imaging and sound technology. The project prioritized accessibility, including the creation of eight seats for spectators with reduced mobility alongside the 193 standard seats. The reconstruction also introduced a new lift to simplify access to all areas, replacing the original service staircase.
Over the eighteen-month reconstruction period, various technological enhancements, layout changes, and remediation works were undertaken. The result is a high-quality cultural space that the residents of Hodonín and the surrounding area can enjoy for cultural meetings.
